Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Viva

We booked the Byzantine tour. We struck gold by having an incredible tour guide. We were impressed by Istanbul and it was wonderful that the ship literally docks in the city! The city was buzzing and I'd definitely re-visit Istanbul for an extended visit in the future. ...

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Sun Princess

We hired a local guide and visited the main portion of Old Town and had a wonderful day. There are several roof top restaurants that are fabulous. We loved the Cistern and luckily our guide helped us skip the lines. I highly recommend using a registered guide. They also can give you the history of the area which I find fascinating. Going on a boat trip on the Bosphorus was also a highlight. ...

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Saturn

New port is fabulous. Lots of space for tour buses. Process of passport control is excellent with the shore pass. Beautiful facility. It’s a bit of a walk from ship to city side but the path is well marked. You can either exit to the city or to a brand new, high end shopping/dining area. Absolutely lovely. ...

Port was chaotic, long walk to the immigration. And luggage was so crazy to actually collect. There is a tram stop close to the port which should sell Istanbulkart but we were scammed by people who blocked the machines and charged us 3x actual amount for the transit tickets. ...

We had two days in Istanbul. Day one, we went to the grand bazar. I would skip this in the future it is crowded and very uncomfortable with all the venders. Not what I expected. However, the next day we went to the Blue Mosque which was unforgettable. Including the area around it where the stores are so much nicer. Both days we hired a cab, which stayed with us all all day for $60.00. I ...

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Enchanted Princess

The city is extremely large, but the old historic section of Istanbul is where all the tourists head. We took a tour, but also explored on our own, as this area is quite walkable. Yes, it is important to see the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and if possible, the Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar, all of which we tried to do, a bit rough on a one-day visit. The list goes on! ...
